Hinge installation method (hinge installation method hinge installation method hinge how to install)

Hinge installation is an essential step when it comes to connecting cabinet doors to the cabinets. Cabinet door hinges, also known as hinges, are common hardware accessories used in cabinets. As cabinet doors are constantly being opened and closed multiple times a day, it is crucial to install hinges properly to ensure their durability and functionality.

There are different installation methods for cabinet door hinges, depending on the type and design of the cabinet:

1. Full Cover: In this method, the door completely covers the side panel of the cabinet body, leaving a specific gap between the two. This allows for safe opening and closing of the door.

2. Half Cover: When two doors share a cabinet side panel, a minimum required gap is maintained between them. The coverage distance of each door is reduced, and a hinge with a hinge arm bending of 9.5mm is needed. This method is suitable for cabinets with a partition in the middle that requires the installation of more than three doors.

3. Inside: In this method, the door is located inside the cabinet, beside the side panel of the cabinet body. A gap is also necessary for the safe opening of the door. A hinge with a highly curved hinge arm of 16mm is required for this type of installation.

When installing hinges, the first step is to install the hinge cup. This can be done by using screws, preferably flat countersunk head chipboard self-tapping screws or a tool-free method. For the tool-free method, the hinge cup has an eccentric expansion plug that can be pushed into the pre-opened hole of the entry panel. Then, the decorative cover can be pulled to install the hinge cup, and the same steps should be followed for uninstalling.

After installing the hinge cup, the hinge seat needs to be installed. This can be done using screws, such as particleboard screws, European-style special screws, or pre-installed special expansion plugs. Alternatively, a press-fitting method can be used, where a special machine is used to expand the hinge seat expansion plug and press it directly into place.

Finally, the cabinet door hinges themselves need to be installed. If no tools are available, a tool-free installation method is recommended. The hinge base and hinge arm should be connected at the lower left position, and the tail of the hinge arm should be buckled down. Then, by pressing the hinge arm gently, the installation can be completed. To open the hinge arm, light pressure can be applied to the left empty space.

Over time, cabinet door hinges may develop rust or may no longer close tightly. In such cases, it is advisable to replace them with new hinges to ensure proper functionality.

In summary, the installation of cabinet door hinges is a relatively simple process that can be done without tools. However, if unsure about the installation process, it is recommended to seek assistance from a professional to ensure reliable installation and avoid any issues in everyday use.
